President's Report

Greetings!  I trust our AMTA community is enjoying an exciting and fruitful year.  As you will find in perusing our board member reports, AMTA continues to thrive as we march toward our signature event, the AMTA Annual Meeting and Symposium.  Our numbers are strong, with a current membership of 488 representing 23 countries.  This includes the addition of 35 first time memberships since the beginning of the calendar year!  Looking toward our 37th Annual Symposium we anticipate reaching a new record based on projected registrations.  These numbers are a sign of a healthy and growing organization that is meeting the needs of its members.

In addition to our annual symposium, I would like to highlight the increasing role AMTA nodes are playing in our organization.  I believe a prime benefit of this concept is the ability to attract young engineers to our field.  The greater networking opportunity afforded by smaller local chapters is a key feature of the node concept.   This type of senior engineer mentorship is difficult to achieve at the larger annual event and is critically important in passing the torch to the next generation of engineers!

It is in that spirit I encourage everyone to look around for opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the life of at least one new engineer…  See you in Long Beach!
